Civil registry

The Vicenza State Archive holds two archives:

Bacchiglione Department Civil Registry, which holds the Civil Registry files of the Napoleonic Period, from 1806 to 1815, of the following cities: Arzignano, Asiago, Barbarano, Bassano del Grappa, Camisano, Cittadella (currently in the province of Padova), Lonigo, Malo, Marostica, Schio, Thiene and Valdagno.

Italian Civil Registry of the cities of the Vicenza province (except Bassano, Asiago) from September 1st 1871 to 1910.

Italian civil Registry of the province of Vicenza, 1910 – 1950. The archive has been paid in 2020 by the Court of Vicenza. Currently deposited at the State Archives of Verona.

Army census

The Recruitment Lists are filed in two archives:

Vicenza Recruitment Lists which holds the Recruitment Lists (classes of 1848 – 1945) of the Vicenza Province.

Vicenza Conscription Lists, which holds the Recruitment Lists (classes of 1806-1862) of the Vicenza District;

The personal information appears in these lists only from the 1873 class on. This information is particularly useful for genealogic research, since it contains the names of the parents and the birthplace.

Recruitment number and military draw number

The Vicenza Draft Cards file holds the Draft Cards and military records (classes of 1850-1931) of the privates and non-commissioned officers.

There is also an envelope of Air Force personnel files relating to the classes from 1893 to 1902 and documentation regarding women who were recognised as ‘partisans‘.
