Civil registry

The State Archives of Siena preserve the Registry Civil of Siena and province (1866-1970) paid by the Court of Siena for the following municipalities: Asciano, Buonconvento, Casole d’Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Chiusdino, Colle Val d’Elsa, Gaiole in Chianti, Montalcino, Monteriggioni, Monteroni d’Arbia, Monticiano, Murlo, Poggibonsi, Radda in Chianti, Radicondoli, Rapolano Terme, San Gimignano, San Giovanni d’Asso, Siena, Masse di Siena, Sovicille and Trequanda. There are no registers of the municipalities included in the territory of the suppressed court of Montepulciano, which are still kept at that location.

Army census

The Siena Recruitment Office file contains the lists of recruits called to examination (classes of 1842-1920) in the cities of the present province, divided in the Siena and Montepulciano circumscriptions. The Recruitment Lists of the next military classes are held in the Florence State Archive.

Recruitment number and military draw number

The Siena Military District file holds the Draft Cards with alphabetical lists (classes of 1843-1945) of the recruits; The file includes the officers fascicles as well (classes of 1841-1870).
