Civil registry

The Isernia State Archive holds the Civil Registry files, which are subdivided in: Civil Registry (1809-1865). The Campobasso State Archive transferred the files in 1972. It sent the marriage and death certificates, the documents necessary to issue the marriage certificate (the so-called marriage processes) and the marriage announcements, as well as the “different acts”, which, through different laws, were in force since 1812. These documents are duplicates, the second copy that was sent to the Isernia Court. Most of the registries are gathered in parchment books. Civil Registry(1866-1940), which holds the Civil Registry files and the attached files from the Isernia Court, which received the second copy of the certificates. IThe documents were part of a broader ensemble of files sent by the Isernia City Hall, since the Court was set at the City Hall building, over the S. Francis Monastry, until the 1970s. IThe archive has been preserved in envelopes and it’s composed of Civil Registry and attached filesseries. It includes all cities from the Isernia Province (except Longano) and some cities from the Avellino, Campobasso, Caserta, and Naples provinces. The Forlì del Sannio Civil Registry file (1875-1899) holds the death and marriage certificates from that city.

Army census

Following the establishment of the province of Isernia, the series of Recruitment Registers (1844-1917) consisting of the extraction lists of members drawn by lot by the Municipalities and the recruitment lists drawn up by the Municipalities for each year or age class. The Campobasso State Archive transferred the files in 1972
